The purpose of this lesson series is to examine the life of David and how we can apply his experiences to our lives today. This is the first in the series with emphasis on the early life of David.

 

Scriptures: 1 Samuel 16:13; Ruth 4:17;

    2. Judah saved the life of Joseph indirectly- Genesis 37: 26-27

    4. Caleb is descendant of Judah- Numbers 13:6- What do you think is the significance-
    5. Christ is descendant of David- Luke 1:27 and 32

    1. Considered the be the greatest King of Israel – Christ called by many by the name Son of David

    1. A man held in esteem by God- Acts 13:22
    2. A man who had human problems just like us

    1. David had the heart needed to carry out the will of God- 1 Samuel 16: 7
    2. David was a tender of sheep and the youngest of the 8 brothers- 1 Samuel 16: 11
    3. David believed totally in the defense of God-       1 Samuel 17: 26
    4. David was unafraid and did not listen to ridicule- 1 Samuel 17: 28-30
    5. David recognized that his total defense was God- 1 Samuel 17: 37-39
    6. David ran toward Goliath and had full faith in God
